There are 22km of pistes for intermediate and advanced skiers accessed by 3 drag lifts on the glacier. This is where many of the international ski teams come to train before the start of the world cup season in October and those insearch ofslightly less challenging tuition come to participate in skiing and boarding master classes in the summer months.
Skiing in summer at such high altitude on the middle of a glacier with crevasses and ice-fields close by is quite an experience. You can ski or board in the morning and still have time to enjoy other activities in the afternoon.
Because the skiing is at 3,600m and on a glacier snow is guaranteed all year round including throughout summer. Summer skiing starts early - lifts open at 7.30am and continue until 2.30pm - to enable skiiers and boarders to take advantage of the best conditions before the snow warms up in the afternoon. We run a breakfast club on one day a week so enthusiasts can make an early start.
Of special note is the snow park with a half-pipe, snow-cross and kickers where enthusiasts of all levels are absorbed for long hours perfecting tricks and jumps and just having fun.
The slopes are reasonably challenging which is what makes them interesting but you need to be able to ski red runs.
There is a system of flexible tickets that lets you choose how many days in the week you ski and which they are. Children up to the age of 9 ski free. On the map below you can see the summer skiing area starts from the top of the Allalin mountain railway (where the revolving restaurant is situated).
The thrilling Freeski Event, the "Saas-Fee Ride" takes place in July when some of the world's best (and bravest) freestyle skiers and boarders compete. Check the Saas Fee Events calendar.
